113 Haitian migrants in custody after boat runs aground off Florida coast

Border patrol took 113 Haitian migrants into custody after their sailing-vessel ran aground off the coast of Florida Saturday afternoon.

The boat was noticed off the coast of Key Largo, close to the gated neighborhood of Ocean Reef, officers mentioned.

Rescue crews transferred the individuals from the grounded vessel to Coast Guard ships, with some getting into the water with out life jackets and wanted to be rescued by crew members.

Chief Patrol Agent Walter N. Slosar, who heads the company’s Miami sector, mentioned in a Twitter submit that brokers are working to keep the migrants “secure, clear, fed and wholesome and establish precisely who they’re and what they might or could not have unsuitable with them.”

“That is an ongoing investigation, and we are attempting to establish the smugglers who crammed these individuals onto that vessel,” Slosar mentioned.
